iButterfly: States of Being 2

2019 - 2022

In this series of works butterflies become an analogy of human patterns of behaviour. I explore a portrayal of the self within socially constructed spaces. I perceive human constructs as influencing human patterns of behaviour. I'm interested in community 'bubbles',  virtual connectivity and questioning free will.  My world on canvas references flora and fauna yet paradoxically it is an estrangement to nature - we are part and apart from nature. I paint a world of constructed and organic elements one feeding into the other. The organic shapes of butterflies merge and transform in such a way that they start to give way to geometric shapes referencing our world as a construct.
