Multiple Realities 1
2013
I took many of the digital images of places that I visited myself while downloading other images off the internet. All digital images were manipulated digitally as I placed images from different sources onto the same picture plane piecing together a whole new landscape. I then transferred the composite landscape onto canvas, a tangible reality. My constructed world was further manipulated through the act of painting. This process was a way for me to explore notions of all virtual and physical places being equally accessible simultaneously. A lone figure was typically depicted in this series of paintings. I played with notions of absence and presence, being and place, a kind of vacant reality yet with very physical attachment and possibility. Poetic narratives on canvas that touch upon human desires and needs.
