Multiple Realities 1
2013
I place images from different sources onto the same picture plane piecing together a new whole. The landscape that is formed is made up of multiple places put into one space. A lone figure is typically depicted in this series of paintings. I play with notions of absence and presence, being and place, a kind of vacant reality yet with very physical attachment and possibility. I have taken many of the digital images myself while downloading other images off the internet. All digital images are manipulated digitally and transferred into physical materiality, a physical reality that is tangible in physical space. The tangible images are further manipulated into my own constructed world - poetic narratives on canvas that touch upon human desires and needs.
