Im/materiality

The idea was to link physical places to the digital world of the Internet. I made a sculpture of the ‘Google man’ a navigational pointer found on Google map. Pantone yellow and green were used for the sculpture. By placing the sculpture in situ the idea was to play with notions of bridging physical and virtual worlds by installing a sculpture that references Google maps. I started testing how this sculpture felt in different contexts in situ..

For the sculpture's final destination Juliet Haysom and guest selector Nicholas Cullinan (curator of international Modern Art at Tate Modern) selected my proposal for the exhibition Park11, Cannizaro Park, London. Participants were invited to view my google man and visit my Google Man's Map: Map of Sculpture’s Locations. The Google map shows the Google Man in various locations around Wimbledon.
